“YOU HAVE A NEW BEGINNING—YOU ARE NEW IN CHRIST “

If you’ve ever watched TV shows that feature body makeovers, like me you probably find them quite interesting.  Just the thought of getting a new physique, clothes, hairdos, etc., can be appealing.  I sometimes look at the before and after pics and think “Hmmm…I wish I could get a makeover and have a new look.”  If we’re honest, sometimes the root of that thought is vanity.  The focus of our minds this year should be on getting a spiritual makeover.  What must I do to become a “new me” in Christ?

One of my favorite scriptures is Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”  Transformation means a total change in spirit, mind, and attitude brought on by the power of God thru the Holy Spirit.  It starts in the inward being and manifests on the outward.  After sanctification it becomes evident that a person has become a new creation.  It reminds me of a verse of an old song: “I looked at my hands and they looked new. I looked at my feet and they did, too.”

Yes, all things have become new.  Why?

“Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”  (2 Cor. 5:17 KJV)

Today is your new beginning and season for change.  Put aside those old habits, negative thoughts, and fears.  Stop procrastinating, walk in victory, and get ready for God to do a new thing in you!  Won’t He do it?  Yes, He will!

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.”  (Galatians 6:15 KJV)

Reflective Prayer:  Lord God, help me to fully align myself with your Word so that I can become a new creation in you.  Amen
