"Jesus Came to Rescue You!”

Let’s face it, sometimes life is just hard.  As believers, we are tempted to buy into the fairy tale that our lives should be pain and suffering free.  Unfortunately, that is simply not true—it’s not even biblical.  In Isaiah 53:3, the prophet described Jesus as “a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.”

Our pain and suffering remind us that we need to be rescued.  If life was always good and without a hint of trouble, we would be tempted to believe that we don’t need a Savior.  We would be tempted to believe that we can pull ourselves by our own bootstraps, or that we are the masters of our own destiny.  Thankfully, our Heavenly Father knows better.  He always has.

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father. Galatians 1:3-4

The Lord strengthens and protects me; I trust in him with all my heart. I am rescued and my heart is full of joy; I will sing to him in gratitude.” Psalm 28:7

By the will of God, Jesus came to rescue us.  Jesus didn’t come so that we could live on easy street.  We will have some joys, but we will also have some sorrows.  Don’t let that get you all out of sorts.  Just like Jesus is with us in our good times, when we are all too glad to give Him praise.  He is also with us in our bad times—let’s still give Him praise.

Take heart, Beautiful.  We will have loss.  We will have pain.  Still choose to believe that God is always in control.  He sent us Jesus, and Jesus is our RESCUER

We did not ask to be rescued, but God in his grace planned what we didn’t realize we needed, and Christ by His grace came to achieve the rescue we could never have achieved ourselves.” ~Tim Keller
