“Beauty Dwells Within”
“But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.” (I Peter 3:4 KJV)
‘Beauty is skin-deep’ is expressed often, but is it really true? According to the world’s standards, perhaps not. So much emphasis is put on outer appearance when it comes to beauty contests, attire, makeup, choosing a mate, and sadly even employment at times. If you don’t look good to the eyes, you just might get passed over despite your excellent qualifications.
We were all made in the image of our Heavenly Father and His image does not reflect in physical traits, but what is in the heart. He made us to be diverse in looks, but united in spirit. By allowing the Holy Spirit to dwell inside, you are indeed beautiful despite any apparent flaws. So, before obsessing over your physique, look instead into the mirror of your soul and be thankful for the beauty that lies within.
Reflective Scripture: “But the Lord said unto Samuel, look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” I Samuel 16:7
Reflective Prayer: Lord, purify my heart so that I am not critical of others according to their physical attributes. Fill me with all the fruit of your Spirit so that the beauty of a Godly life will shine out from within.
