"Don’t Be Deceived…Take A Lesson From Eve!”

I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:2-3‬

Listen!  The tricks of the devil have not changed since the beginning of time.  The Bible warns that the devil was a murderer from the beginning and there is no truth in him.  In fact, if the devil is talking, we’d better know that he’s lying.

Author and preacher, Thomas Brooks described satan this way, “Satan promises the best, but pays with the worst; he promises honor, and pays with disgrace; he promises pleasure, and pays with pain; he promises profit, and pays with loss, he promises life, and pays with death.”  Thankfully the author didn’t leave us hanging with a grim and hopeless outcome.  Thomas Brooks completes his message starting with two words that change the trajectory of the despair that satan brings—BUT GOD!!!  He goes on to say, “But God pays as he promises; all his payments are made in pure gold.”

Sin pays its servants: the wage is death. But God gives to those who serve him: his free gift is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23

Prayer:  Father, we just want to thank you that your intentions toward us are always pure and they are always good.  Please help us not to fall for the deceptions of satan, but to keep our eyes intently focused on you.   In Jesus’s Name.  Amen.
