“Stay Low”

Having a healthy amount of self-esteem is important.  After all, if we don’t believe in ourselves, who will?  However, what’s even more important is that we take care to ensure a good balance between building self-esteem and maintaining humility.  Telling ourselves and others how great we or they are may solve our issue of low self-esteem; but, if we aren’t careful, it can also foster arrogance and pride.

To err on the side of caution, just stay low.

But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6

Prayer:  Father, please help us to receive your gracious gift of humility.  In our flesh, we want to pump ourselves up, we want others to pump us up, but help us to stay low believing that YOU will exalt us.  In Jesus’s Name.  Amen.
