“Beautiful You Are”

“Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so……Yes, Jesus Loves Me!”

This is an old childhood favorite for many of us.  More than likely, it was one of the first songs we learned in church as children or at home from a parent or grandparent.  This song has so much more meaning for me now; causing me to tear up when I sing it because I truly understand the love of Jesus for me.  He has kept me through so much even when I didn’t know He was keeping me.  Jesus has been my strength and comforter.

Beautiful Women, the love of Jesus for us is so great because He is love.  Jesus laid down His life for us by dying on the cross.  The love that Jesus has is not an attribute, it is who He is. “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” 1 John 4:8 (NKJV)

As women, we don’t always feel loved.  As wives and mothers, we do so much to meet the needs of our families.  For many, in addition to keeping home and family intact, there are jobs and careers, volunteering in church and serving our communities.  Mothers who do it alone are the strength and glue holding it all together.  My mother was a single parent who trusted in the love of Jesus to sustain her.

Because Jesus loves us, we can stand strong in the midst of adversity.  We can trust in His love when we don’t feel as strong as others perceive us to be and we can willingly ask for help when needed.  His love allows us to support one another.  We are made in the image of God, and He has demonstrated His love for us.  Therefore, we can believe in ourselves knowing that we are who God says we are.

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV)

Prayer: Father God, thank you for loving us so much that you sent your son Jesus to die on the cross for us so that we might have everlasting life.  Father, help us to understand your love for us, your Agape love that is with us always.  Thank you for your promise to hold us up with your righteous right hand.  Father, help us to love as you love.  Thank you for your grace and mercy always.  Amen
