Conceal, Condition, Contour, Exfoliate, Highlight, and Tone…

When we hear the words Beauty Tips, we automatically think of ways to beautify our physical body—how to conceal our wrinkles and blemishes, condition our hair with an avocado/mayo mask, contour our jawline to soften the shape, exfoliate our skin with coconut oil and sea salt, highlight our eyes with the right mascara, and tone our face with witch hazel and lavender oil.

Now let’s look at how we can use these same tips that beautify us physically into beautifying us spiritually.

Conceal: to cover or prevent uncovering

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over (conceals) a multitude of sins.1 Peter 4:8 (NIV)

Condition: to put into a proper shape for use

I discipline (condition) my body and keep it under control, unless after preaching to others, I find myself disqualified.1 Corinthians 9:27 (ESV)

Contour: made to fit the form of something

Do not conform (contour) to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2 (NIV)

Exfoliate: to cast off in layers

Now we must rid yourselves (exfoliate) of such things as anger, rage, malice,

slander, and filthy language. Colossians 3:8 (NIV)

Highlight: to throw a strong light on

Let your light shine (highlight) before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16 (NIV)

Tone: to increase in strength and firmness

I can do all this through Christ who strengthens (tones) me. Philippians 4:13 (NIV)

Prayer:  Father, please remind me that each time I apply a beauty tip for my physical body, to not neglect the most important part—beautifying my spirit (wo)man.
