IT’S NEVER TOO LATE

BY PASTOR NATE RUCKER

“When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
— Matthew 2:10-11 (NKJV)

Have you ever been invited to a surprise party? One where the lights were to be cut out right before the Guest of Honor’s entry? Now imagine showing up late.

While we celebrate the birth of Jesus on December 25, we know that the wise men did not arrive on Jesus' birthday. Nevertheless, when they came, they brought gifts. They came to worship Him.

In the holiday season where the focus is on family, it is possible to be discouraged when a loved one has not yet come to Christ. I want to encourage you today that it is never too late. That only God can draw a person to Himself, and when their name is called, they will be coming to worship Him. The Lord was so gracious to the wise men by giving them a sign, a star. It was by faith that the wise men followed that star all the way to Bethlehem. Let me again reemphasize, You cannot please the Lord without faith (Hebrew 11:6).

My challenge for you today is to continue praying for the prodigals. Have faith in knowing that when they turn to the Lord, all of heaven will rejoice. As the wise men were looking for the One, Jesus is mercifully seeking out His lost sheep.

Prayer: Lord, give those who call out to You a sign. Pursue them with Your love. Empower me to embody the message of the Gospel, so I can let my light shine.
