Devotionals for Wednesday: April 5
Introduction
As we study the Gospel, we pray for, anticipate, and expect spiritual growth in our lives. To facilitate this spiritual growth, we will use two components. One component is the commitment to attend the Wednesday Bible study from 7 pm-8:15 pm, either on campus in the Worship Center or via Livestream at www.bethelhampton.com. The second component is a set of weekly devotionals that we complete prior to the Wednesday Bible study.
The questions listed below are for you to answer and reflect upon as you study the chapter for this week. We suggest that you take at least four or five days each week for this personal devotional.
A Study of Jesus’ Superiority

Day 1 – Hebrews 11:1-3
What does the definition of faith, given in verse 1 mean to you?
Verse 2 declares “that the elders obtained a good testimony by faith;” how did they accomplish that?
Verse 3 states that “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” What does that statement mean?
Hebrews 11 is known as “The Heroes of Faith.” We are unable to visit with all the heroes of faith listed in the chapter, but we will catch up with a few of them.
Day 2 – Hebrews 11:4-12

These individuals of faith came to a certain realization revealed in verse 13 and it became their confession; what was that?
Verses 17-19 revealed that Abraham received an ultimate test when he was asked to offer up Issac, his son of promise. What did Abraham do and how did his faith help him?
Verse 22 speaks of the faith of Joseph demonstrated by instructions he gave to the children of Israel. What were those instructions and how did they demonstrate his faith? (A look at Genesis 50:24, 25 might help)
In viewing verses Hebrew 11:24-27 we see Moses making a stand grounded in faith when he does what?
Day 4 – Hebrews 11:30-40
In verse 30 how did the children of Israel exercise faith and gain a victory over Jericho?
Verse 35 speaks of those who were tortured. What was the object of their faith? What were they believing for?
Many individuals had their faith tested in what ways?
Based on what you have read, what do you believe the writer of Hebrews was attempting to accomplish with his readers?
How has your faith been tested; and how did you manage?
