MAKING KNOWN THE SAVIOR

BY PASTOR RON DEBERRY

“Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.”
— Luke 2:17-18 (NKJV)

Have you made it your business to make known the Savior, Jesus Christ?

The shepherds were given the good news of the birth of a Savior, the Christ the Lord. They determined to go see Him. After they saw Him, they spread the good news of the Savior’s birth. They were excited. And those who heard were amazed at the news told to them by the shepherds. Put yourself in the place of the shepherds. Of all people to be spreading the good news about the birth of a Savior, it would not be expected to be shepherds. Shepherds had no power or authority in religious circles. Who would believe them? Yet, they determined to spread the good news of the Savior’s birth.

What about us? We may not have positions of authority or influence, but we have seen the Savior, Christ the Lord. We know He was born to save the world from their sins. Who have we told about this Good News? Even as the shepherds made it their business to make known the Savior, so must we! Let’s commit to use this Christmas season to tell the unsaved about the Good News of the Savior.

Prayer: Dear God, give me the courage to tell the dying world around me about the Savior I have found. Open opportunities and then give me courage to speak this life into people’s lives.
