CHECKING OUR LOVE TANK

Scripture Reading: 1 John 4:7-16

Are you expressing the love of the Father to others?

God demonstrated His love toward us by sending His Son, Jesus, to be the sacrifice for our sins. This is the gospel message and why we celebrate the birth of Christ. But we as brothers and sisters in Christ have the directive to love one another and those outside the faith. Even as God loves us, we are called to share this love with others. In fact, we demonstrate that God lives in us by loving one another. We demonstrate our love for others in various ways during this Christmas season — we give gifts, we help the needy with food and clothes, and we volunteer in various outreaches to help others. But we have been called to demonstrate this love to others beyond the Christmas season! We have been called to demonstrate the love of the Father to others throughout the year. This expression of love is the very mark of the true Christian. It is who we are! We cannot but love because it is the very essence of who we are as Christ abides in us. Let’s use this Christmas season to check our love tank. Does it overflow throughout the year and not just during the Christmas season? 

Prayer: Dear God, let my love tank overflow throughout the year. Remind me in 2021 that Your love abides in me and should overflow to others. Fill my love tank, I pray.
