THE JOY OF CONFIRMATION
BY PASTOR NATE RUCKER
“Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.” — Luke 2:20 (NKJV)
After being told by angels, the shepherds were not obligated to stop what they were doing. But in faith, they left. And typically on the other side of faith, is confirmation.
Back in my college days, I was in prayer, seeking the Lord for the gifts of the Holy Spirit. I found it intriguing that this Power living in me gave me access to the supernatural. This was all unto God’s glory, that I may be an effective witness. The same day I was walking down the stairs of our Student Union building, walking up was a man I had never seen before. But when I saw him, I immediately knew that he was having troubles with his back. I attribute this to God. I asked the man, “Excuse me, sir do you have problems with your back?” He said, “Yes, I just had surgery. How did you know?” I replied, “See sir, I believe in God, I am Christian” I said, fumbling over my words. “God told me about your back...can I pray for you?” The man said that he also was a Christian and that I could pray for him. Leaving the man, I was absolutely thrilled. “That was really God. I really saw Him.”
Testify. Testify what you have seen and heard. Is the hand of God evident in your life? Today’s challenge is to tell someone! Tell someone that Jesus is Lord through your testimony. Tell someone in your workplace.
Prayer: Lord, I want to be provoked by Your Goodness. Give me the grace to be a messenger of the Good News.
